The Ch\u00e2teau des Cr\u00eates was built in neo-Renaissance style by the \u201cKing of Parisian Gas\u201d, Vincent Dubochet (1796-1877), the son of a Montreux farmer who returned to his native land to make his success a reality, right next to where Rousseau set his \u201cNouvelle H\u00e9lo\u00efse\u201d.
